Datamanagement (ENG)

Managing research data is an essential part of your research. Data management includes the creation, storage, protection, maintenance, availability, archiving and long-term storage of data. Data management is essential when it comes to the quality, safety, confidentiality and transparency of your research.

Data management enhances integrity and importantly increases the impact of your research. It ensures that your research data can be reused in the future and also ensures that internal and external requirements are met.

A well organized data management prevents annoying problems during or after the study. Proper and ethical use of data is valuable in itself and also attests good science. Data management also prevents reputational damage, fines or discontinuation of the study.

Datamanagement plan

In a data management plan you describe what data are collected during the research, as well as how you store, manage, protect the data and what happens to the data after the project. You also record how personal data is being processed. Data management plans are more and more required by consortium partners or when you want to apply for grants.

With the introduction of the GDPR, the rights of the subjects have been expanded. Subjects are – among other things – entitled to inspection and oblivion. By keeping your data well organized you can respond adequately to requests for access to data, corrections and removal of data.
